Beauty and the Beast!

I know the title is extremely boring (and possible misleading) but I got to go to Disney's Beauty and the Beast musical! I'm not sure if there's a dress code for musicals in Vancouver because every time I go, I see people dressed in all sorts of clothes, from jeans and baggy pants to suits and long dresses. I do like to dress a little bit up for musicals because when I was a kid, I remember it used to be a special event kind of thing, so I wore my cute ribbon tie top with my red satin skirt.

The muscial was at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre - we went on closing night, it was great!

There was a line of people taking pictures with the poster, so I only managed to take a quick (blurry) picture of it, thinking I could get my turn after the musical was over. Unfortunately, it was gone when the play was over :(((((((((( Why would they do that??

Taking a stealth picture before the show started, as they're all very strict with cameras.

My favourite Toroniku Shio Ramen ♥ We had some late night ramen afterwards at Santouka, and were all happy and full going home :)

Jeweled Scarf with Tweed

I'm usually not a fan of pink and black but I do like how this raspberry tweedy pink brings up the black outfit.

Another thing I like to use to perk up a black outfit is sparkle! I love this jeweled circle scarf and how it's embellished with many different kinds of gems and decorations.

I hope everyone had a great Valentine's Day and is having a great February so far! Sorry for the lack of posts and definitely for the lack of replies lately, I'm still trying to catch up! It may take a while but I'll definitely get through it... so thank you for your lovely comments :))))))

Pink Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's Day!

I love the sheerness and flow of this pink knit dress. I don't like how Valentine's Day has to be in February though, it makes wearing cute flowy outfits like these tough because it's still pretty cold. Why can't it be in the Summer, or at least the Spring??

Are any of you making sweets for your loved one? ;) I love this cute little lunch bag I got as part of a gift from the Japanese magazine Cancam. The pattern is so cute, and it's waterproof so it's ok if there's a spill.

Nail Love: Mauve

I wanted to do a pink nail for Valentine's, but gravitated towards this particular shade of mauve instead. I never thought about it but mauve can be such a romantic colour. Pink is too, but in a more cutesy, puppy love kind of romance. Mauve is a more calming, serene, staying up until the morning and watching the sunrise together kind of romance. Am I being too sentimental :p

I really love the Electric Lane Glitter Topcoat, they really pack the glitter in and one coat gives life to the colour underneath. I just couldn't help myself but to add some heart stickers and jewels.

I hope you liked this week's Nail Love! I had a lot of fun doing this one, and looking at all these mauvey purpley images are such a nice calming way to end the week. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend :)

Springtime = Trench Coats!

Trench coats bring to me a feeling that Spring is upon us, because it's too cold for me to wear a trench coat in Winter and too hot in the Summer. It's one of my transitional pieces I love to pull out when the weather starts getting warm. I wore this to work because it was sunny in the morning and I thought it would be warm but it turned out that it was freezing cold and when I went home at night, it was... still cold :(

I like this trench coat except for one thing - it's a bit tight in the shoulders. I have broad shoulders and let me tell you one thing: Zara jackets and broad shoulders DO NOT MIX. I think I somehow managed to stretch it out because it's not as tight as it was when I bought it. It's annoying because it fits everywhere else, just not the shoulders. I did want a trench coat for the longest time and this was the best one out of many that I've tried. But I'm STILL ON THE HUNT.

By the way, am I the only one to realize it's Valentine's day next week?? I had a mini freak out yesterday at dinner because I JUST realized that it was February and that Valentine's day is in February. I know, I know, with me whining about 'month-end' for the past week, I should be the first to know that it's February, but unfortunately, doing month-end has me still thinking it's January. Well at least now I finally get why everyone is asking me what I'm doing for Valentine's day. I was like.... there's a pattern to this... but WHY......................

Leopard Dress 2 Ways

Doesn't the leopard peter pan collar make this simple grey dress instantly adorable? I made two looks with this dress, a casual one and a feminine one!

I wanted to experiment, so I added Hello Kitty glasses and red snow boots for a cute and casual look. I don't usually go for booties like these but I love the bow and it is extremely comfortable!

I toned down the look with my trusty black wedges and added one of my favourite bags, a nude bag with a chunky chain handle. It's actually a shoulder bag with a detachable chain, so it's an extremely versatile bag!

I hope you liked my two looks! I hope you guys have a great week :)

Movie Break: My Fair Lady : Part 2

We're back with Part 2 of My Fair Lady!

And if you've read my last post and haven't guessed by now, this story takes place in England - London to be exact - which will be one of the destinations for my trip! So excited :))))))

Side note: Thank you all so much for your lovely comments!! I'm just swamped at the moment as it's stupid month-end again :( I will definitely get back to you guys soon ♥

Let's kick off with a very formal and pompous Ascot Opening Day:

I can't get over that weird mascara brush hat, it's so distracting!! But anyway, I love the design and choreography of this scene, how everyone seems to be walking into each other but just seamlessly slides out of the way without noticing. I think the production of this on a sound stage was great. If it had been on location, the setting would not only have taken away from the simple colour scheme of white, grey and black, but also the elaborate hats and gowns.

I love the bit with the two women who wore the same ridiculously extravagant hat. I guess there really is no way to hide if you're both wearing something so unique and huge!

Hehe, look at Higgins being all out of place and not caring in his beige suit!

And of course, we have this beautiful outfit:

"Well if I was doing it proper, what was you sniggering at? Have I said anything I oughtn't?"

How beautiful is this dress? And how much work it must have been to walk in it with that huge hat on your head, an umbrella in one hand, and a huge lace bag in the other?

Apparently, the ribbons in this outfit are not black and white, but a very deep purple and white. Flowers are attached onto the side, little violets, wheat, and red roses. I love the lace under-bonnet, the little flower details are darling.

Hehehe, you gotta love Audrey :)

Well that was a little speed bump they had to go over... but they finally make it to the Embassy Ball.

LOVE the pink satin ribbon overcoat
LIKE the pastel brocade kimono type overcoat
DON'T KNOW what's going on with that balloon feather puffy thing

This is probably one of my most favourite scenes in the movie. You can feel Eliza practically floating through the air, nervous and excited. And when Higgins offers his arm it's like omgomgomgomgomgomg totally cute moment!

I love the empire shape of this dress, beaded and gemmed throughout. It moves so beautifully when she walks and dances. It's definitely wedding dress material!

Hehe, old school gossip...

Everyone was dressed impeccably but I just had to mention the Queen of Transylvania, who looked so regal in her lilac dress. Such a beautiful colour!

When I was a kid, this was my second favourite outfit (after the Embassy Ball outfit) because it was pink and there were grapes in her hat. The shape of her jacket is really interesting, with it being pointed in the front and long and pleated in the back.

Imagine walking down the street now with that ensemble! This is the last and most feminine outfit for Eliza, a pink chiffony organza dress with ruffles and a huge rosette with a matching ruffly hat. Here she is finally a lady - perfect hair, rosy cheeks, and a reasonable, fair, forgiving attitude, coming back to stubborn old Higgins. I don't like the ending too much, but I like that it stays true to the characters. It would not have been Higgins if he suddenly became head over heels drooling over Eliza. So I guess it was a good compromise :)

I hope you guys enjoyed this Movie Break! Have a great weekend :)
